GCSS Announces New Chief of School Police and Safety Director

Glynn County Schools is excited to announce the selection of Johnny Davis, Sr., a 33-year law enforcement veteran, as the new Chief of School Police and Safety Director. A product of the Glynn County School System, Davis brings a wealth of experience, education and leadership to the post. His law enforcement training includes internal affairs, criminal investigations, active shooter, physical fitness, defensive tactics, crime prevention, and public safety, among others.

Davis began his career in 1990 with the Brunswick Police Department as a patrol officer and was later promoted to lieutenant in the Patrol Division, before serving as an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Shortly thereafter, he joined Glynn County Schools as a Captain Commander and was primarily stationed at Jane Macon Middle before taking a hiatus from police work in 2008 to serve as Regional Commander for the United Nations Mission in Haiti.

After serving for two years, Davis joined the College of Coastal Georgia Police Department as a lieutenant.
Glynn County is among 30 school districts in Georgia with its own police force.
