GCSS to Close Thursday Due to Tropical Storm Nicole

Schools will remain closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday; however, Glynn County School System employees scheduled to work on Friday should report to work on Friday. Schools will dismiss on their normal schedules today, and buses will run their normal routes. After-school and extracurricular programs will operate on normal schedules today, as well. If conditions allow, all schools will resume on Monday, Nov. 14.


The safety of our students and staff is paramount to any and all other considerations, and we will keep you abreast of any new information as it becomes available through One Call, our district website, our Facebook page and our media partners.

In partnership with the Glynn County Government and Glynn County Emergency Management Agency, Glynn County Schools officials are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Nicole and its projected path.

As seen in previous weather events, storm paths can be unpredictable and ever-changing. A decision regarding school closures will be made and announced on Wednesday, November 9.

We know the impact school closures can have on the plans and lives of our students, employees, and families and it is important that we provide as much information as possible so that you can make the most informed decision.
