Principal’s Message

Dear Golden Isles Ohana,

I am humbled and honored to be able to write this letter to you. As your newly appointed Principal at Golden Isles Elementary, I cannot wait to get to know you and your children! I am truly honored to be in this position and am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for the students here at Golden Isles.

First, I would like to tell you a little about me. I am forty-six years old and I am married. My wife Holly and I have two children, Tyler who is twenty three and Hailey who is eighteen. My wife and I have two dogs at home, Luna and Lexi. I am entering my twenty-second year in education, which includes ten years of experience as an elementary principal.

I realize that I have big shoes to fill in this community. My promise to you is that I will be heavily involved in all aspects of the school. I believe that a building principal must be visible, accessible, and accountable to all members of the school community they serve. I will be out in front of the school every day at student arrival and dismissal. I will frequently be in classrooms, being part of what the children do day in and day out. Additionally, I make regular visits to the cafeteria and playground to talk with students and get to know them as people.

I am a firm believer in the importance of building strong relationships with parents, staff, and students. This is the only way that we can truly collaborate with one another to do what is best for our children. I invite you to be active participants in the education of your children. I encourage you to advocate for them, ask questions about what they are doing in school, and communicate with myself and our teachers. School is a place for children and their families. I hope that you take pride in and continue to be an active part of our school.

I am excited to begin this journey with you. I would love it if you would stop by to meet me on July 21, 2025 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, in our cafeteria. Let me know if I can ever be of any assistance to you. I am always delighted to meet our parents and talk about our school. We welcome your support in continuing a strong home-school partnership.

Yours in education,

Jason D. Smith
