## Eureka Math

Eureka Math — also known as EngageNY — is a complete, PreK through 12 curriculum that carefully sequences the mathematical progressions into expertly crafted modules. Eureka Math connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build student confidence—while helping students achieve true understanding lesson by lesson and year after year. The Glynn County School System elected to implement the Eureka Math Curriculum in Kindergarten and Grade 1 for the 2016-17 school year.* Implementation will occur in subsequent grade levels, one grade level at a time, continuing with Grade 4 in 2019-20. In addition, teachers in Grade 5 may choose to use Eureka Math as a resource to supplement the Georgia Department of Education Mathematics Frameworks.

Summary of Year - Kindergarten

Kindergarten mathematics is about (1) representing, relating, and operating on whole numbers, initially with sets of objects; and (2) describing shapes and space. More learning time in Kindergarten should be devoted to number than to other topics.

## AIMS

### Achieving Individual Mathematics Success

Utilized at the elementary level in Grade 5 AIMS are locally developed, five-minute tests that provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate fluency in computation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Problems are grade-level appropriate and aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). These quick assessments help students develop and maintain essential basic skills. Individual school and overall district averages are reported to Assessment and Accountability, where the data is presented in bar graphs for comparison.

Beginning with AIMS III, Grade 5 students who have earned 100% on at least two previous AIMS, will engage in a more challenging version of AIMS, identified as AIMS PLUS.
